As I imagined this quilt, I pictured myself curled up in a favorite chair by an east-facing window, coffee in hand, watching light shimmer and shift across the glass — just like the movement of color in the quilt itself. For best color movement result; choose light, medium, dark valued fabrics in 2 colors. Larger quilt sizes will enhance the movement effect.
Not sure about how to determine color value?
Tip: Take a picture of your fabrics with your phone, then go to the picture and select edit. Choose the “filters” option, then scroll to the ‘monotone’ or ‘black & white” filter. You should now be able to see the color value of each of your fabrics and how they compare to each other. Keep testing fabrics in this way until you have a dark, medium, and light value of each color.
